What are Activated Carbon Filters?
Carbon Activated filters consist of carbon granules, which are obtained form either coconut shells, wood or coal depending on their use. For gas or air treatment, such as is required in many toilet systems, the most effective carbon is produced from coconut shells or anthracite, both of which have fine pore structures that lends itself perfectly to the activation processing and the collection of these bad odours found in toilet systems.
So, when a Microvent toilet system filter is installed it allows the toilet waste holding tank to 'breath' through these highly absorbent, replaceable filters. As such, removing unpleasant smells and odours from lingering in the system while allowing gas to filter out of the tank away from your living space.
The LeeSan toilet microvent filter can be installed anyway, so long as you can access the unit to change the filters when necessary (filters have a height of 82mm and diameter of 32mm), and is designed to connect with the breather plumbing from the 38mm (1 1/2") connections.
