The 45cm long suction neck (measured from the outlet pipe to the tip full length 67cm) features a low-lying suction rotor that allows the pump to sit as low as possible in the water so that almost all of the water can be removed. There is also a removeable filter element that can be placed on to the bottom of the suction pipe to protect the internal impeller from debris - useful when pumping out bilges or ponds etc.
Above the outlet pipe connection you will find the battery compartment and on/off switch. This also has a useful hook so that the pump can be hooked on to ledges etc. There is also a slot for the pump nozzle handle to be stored away whilst not in use. The pump nozzle, similar in design to petrol station nozzles, has an open/close clasp for opening and closing the flow. A watering can spout can also be added to the end if required - this is supplied with the kit too.
This emergency electric pump requires two 'D' batteries to operate. They sit inside the dark grey and green handle section which slides up and clicks out for battery insertion (batteries sold separately). The on/off switch sits on the very top of the pump next to a large hook.
Not only can this battery operated pump remove or transfer water, it is suitable for diesel, petrol, paraffin and light oils. Many boat bilges can be difficult to access, particularly underneath the engine, something that this pump may be able to help you with? It is also able to manage windshield washer fluid, some mild detergents and sme agricultural chemicals.
The slim-line nature of the pump and flexibility of the outlet hose makes it relatively compact so potentially easy to store on board too. The pump uses are far reaching, not only useful on board your boat but it may well be useful for other applications such as garden ponds, fish tanks, jerry cans and more.
