What is the Dometic 6-Stage IUoU Charging Characteristics?

IUoU is a German standard designation given to lead-acid battery charging proceedures. This is often reffered to as '3-stage' charging or '3-step' charging. It consists of three phases, or stages, to a charge, commonly I-phase, Uo-phase and U-phase, each of which designed to work together to efficently charge a battery in a relatively short space of time. The Dometic 6-stage process comes as standard in the PerfectCharge MCA range of battery chargers and consists of:

Stage 1 - I-phase: The discharged battery is charged with constant current until the battery voltage reaches the charge voltage.

Stage 2-4 - UO-phase: 3-stage absoption charging phase with constant voltage (UO). The battery charge is determined within the first twominutes, after which the main charging phase follows. This ends when the battery is fully charged or the charge current is less than 6% of the nominal charging current for 15 minutes.

Stage 5 - U-Phase: The charger switches over to float charging, a conservation charging function.

Stage 6 - Conditioning: Every 12 days, the charger switches back into I-phase to revitalise the battery and prevent sulphation.

How many batteires can I charge from the smart battery chargers?

This will depend on which Dometic battery charger you select. Each of the chargers provide either a charge for one starter battery and one liesure battery (1 + 1), charge for one starter battery and two leisure battiers (2 + 1) or charge for three batteries in one go (3).

Each charger has local interconnect network (LIN) and CI-BUS systems for connectivity and control.
