The Nasa Marine Stingray Echo Depth Sounder is a simple dashboard mountable depth indicator for marine use. This depth sounder features a bright LED (red & green) indicator ring, audible alarms and two stage depth ranges (1-25 metres or 1-100 metres) which are both easily adjusted and set. This kit comes complete with a transducer and mounting bracket.
How does the Nasa Marine Stingray Echo Depth Sounder work?
The boat depth sounder utilises the knowledge that sound travels at 144 metres a second through water which enables the calculation of depth to be made by way of measuring the interval between the sound being made and the echo being heard.
The Nasa Stingray Echo Sounder comes complete with a high quality Lead Zirconate Titanate Piezodisc crystal which creates ultrasonic 'sound' pulses at a frequency of 150kHz. These pulses are sent through the water and bounced back off the bottom which is sensed by the crystal in the transducer.
