Automatic float switch constructed from marine grade materials that turns on and off bilge pumps should the water level increase or decrease and is ignition protected.
Float switches work by way of water level. When the water level is low the switch sits idle but as the water level increases and becomes too high the float switch rises with the water and once the maximum level is reached the switch clicks and sends a signal to a water pump to operate. The pump should then do it's job until the float switch is lowered to the 'off' position, the pump will then turn off.
The positioning of the switch is relatively important so that it is most effective.
