The Freeman Cruiser stern gland bronze compression ring compresses the Freeman Stern Gland Packing within the propeller shaft gland. The Freeman Stern Gland Knurled Compression Nut is used to tighten the gland as required to prevent water from entering the gland.
The gland packing needs regular tightening, and occasionally replacing, as it is designed to wear away thereby protecting your propeller shaft and log assembly and preventing water from entering through the log shaft gland.
