Chrome plated 90 degree fuel tank vent with flame proof gauze which allows tanks to 'breath'. Fuel tank vents are usually a requirement for the Boat Safety Scheme.
It is also worth checking that tank breather vents, especially the gauze, are clear from dirt and spider webs as spiders find these particularly comfortable and may cause the vent to become restricted and therefore may not to work correctly.
