SeaStar Teleflex 33C Miracable Black Control Cables

Our thoughts...

SeaStar Solutions is the new name for both Teleflex Marine and Morse Controls. Many older controls, cables or fittings may be badged with either Morse or Teleflex.

SeaStar Teleflex 33C Miracable Black Control Cables are used on a lot of boats as either throttle or gear control cables. The Black Jacket 33C control cables are classed as standard grade cables and are suitable for longer runs than the light-duty 33C control cables.

These SeaStar Teleflex marine control cables feature stainless steel inner cable with stainless steel 10-32 UNF threaded ends suitable for most controls and most outboard, outdrive and inboard engine or gearbox applications.

These control cables are protected by a durable HDPE outer black jacket that resists abrasion and withstands the effects of UV, salt water, chemicals, fuel and oil.

Seastar Miracable or Standard 33C

The only difference between these Seastar Miracable Black Jacket Cables and the Standard Red Cables is the colour of the outer jacket. They feature the same stainless steel end fittings and inner cable and are fully compatible with 33C fittings and end eyes using the 10-32UNF thread.

How To Select The Right 33C Cable

Generally, your old cable will have markings on one end of the outer cover which should tell you the length of the cable in metres or feet. The last two digits of a Seastar 33C control cable part number tells you the length of the cable in feet.

If your old cable is not a Seastar cable you can measure the old cable by measuring it from tip to tip and rounding it up to the nearest foot.

What is the history of the cable names Dometic, SeaStar, Teleflex, & Morse?

Some of you may know either or all of the popular boat control cable brand names that have been used for the 33C cables but to help clarify the situation this is a brief history.

SeaStar Solutions was incorporated in the USA in 1943 to design and make push-pull control cables for US warplanes. Teleflex Marine began in England in 1933 concentrating on steering and control systems. While Morse Controls Inc. was founded in 1940 in the US to establish control cable technology.

In 1971 a company called Rockwell purchased both Morse Controls Inc. and Teleflex Marine and formed the new company Morse Controls which led the field in steering and control systems. The Teleflex Marine brand re-emerged and later changed the company name to SeaStar Solutions.

SeaStar Solutions has most recently been purchased by Dometic, a large 'mobile-living' manufacturer specialising in products for the marine and leisure markets, and thus a new name is now appearing on the packaging.
