West System Epoxy A Packs

The West System A Pack Epoxy kit combines the West System 105 epoxy resin and either the 205 (fast) or 206 (slow) hardener.

The West System 105 Epoxy ‘A Pack’ is the backbone of high-quality boat maintenance, trusted by shipwrights and DIY boaters alike for its legendary strength and versatility. When used on its own, the 105 Resin is a clear, low-viscosity liquid that "wets out" glass cloth and penetrates deep into wood grain for a superior moisture barrier. However, the real magic happens when you mix it with West System fillers. Whether you need to create a thickened gap-filler, a sandable fairing compound for hull dings, or a structural adhesive, this A Pack provides the professional foundation you need to protect and preserve your vessel for years to come.

Which West System Hardener should I use, the 205 (fast) or 206 (slow) hardener?

Every repair environment is different, which is why we offer the ‘A Pack’ with a choice of two hardener speeds to suit your project. West Systems produce two basic hardeners, the 205 (fast) and the 206 (slow), each with different attributes.

• West System 205 (fast) hardener:- A medium viscosity curing agent, useful in lower temperatures and to produce a rapid cure that develops the epoxies physical properties quickly at room temperature. Suitable for temperatures approximately ranging between 5°C to 30°C.
• West System 206 (slow) hardener:- A low-viscosity curing agent, useful when extended working and cure time is required or to provide adequate working time at higher temperatures. Suitable for temperatures approximately ranging between 14°C to 33°C.

When either hardener is mixed with the West System 105 resin in a five part resin to one part hardener ratio, the cured epoxy mixture yields a rigid, high-strength, moisture resistant, solid finish with excellent bonding and coating properties.

For an accurate 5:1 mix ratio without the mess, we highly recommend the West System 301 Pump Set. One full pump of resin and one full pump of hardener gives you the perfect chemical balance every time, preventing "sticky" cures and wasted material.
