The Cobra Marine VHF Radio is an economic, entry level, professional handheld floating VHF radio, ideal if navigating onto the tidal Thames for the first time or to have on board in emergencies.
This handheld VHF radio has programmable memory slots for your specific choices and has all three worldwide Channel Maps built-in so it will operate correctly in whichever area you have selected from the settings. A smart feature is the 'Dual Watch' function which allows you to prioritise two important channels to follow.
With instant access to NOAA weather channels you have 24 hour access to weather information at the touch of a button. You can also receive NOAA weather alreats when threatening wether is nerby.
The in built Power Save mode and 'Receive' mode reduces power consumption and the Keypad Lock ensures buttons are not pressed by accident. The wide backlit LCD display shows important information including channel selection, signal strength and battery status. Quick touch side buttons for talk and Squelch control (filtration of weak signals) provides quick access to important features.
For emergencies, there is a dedicated instant 'CH 16' button for immediate access to the emergency channel. The keypad is lit up to improve use in low light conditions.
Transmission Power: 3W / 1W / .5W, complete with sockets for charging from 12 volt (cigarette type socket) and also features SCAN for signal searching. The Transceiver can operate using the rechargeable batteries that are included or 4 x AAA standard NIMH-cells.
There i a jack port so you can attach a speaker mic and the belt clip provides a means of securing the VHF radio in pace.
