Sikaflex 291i is a one-part non-sag polyurethane based joint sealing compound specially formulated for marine applications that creates a tough, weather resistant bond between most materials that can be painted over. It also meets the low spread of flame requirements set out by the International Maritime Organisation.

Sikeflex 291i is a vibration resistant joint sealant and can be used for a variety of internal and external sealing applications. It comes in cartridge form that can be used with a 'standard silicone gun'.

Sikaflex 291i Areas of Application

Sikaflex 291i is a multi-purpose product for use in marine construction. It is suitable for making elastic, vibration-resistant joint seals, and can also be used for the adhesive bonding of teak deck and for a variety of interior and exterior sealing applications.

Sikaflex 291i bonds extremely well to the materials commonly used in marine construction. Suitable substrates include wood, metals, metal primers and paint coatings (two-part systems), ceramic materials and plastics (GRP, etc.).

Sikaflex 291i must not be used to seal plastics that are prone to stress cracking (e.g. Perspex, polycarbonate, etc.). Once cured, Sikaflex-291i can easily be sanded down as required.

Sikaflex 291i Cure Mechanism

Sikaflex-291i cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture. At low temperatures, the water content of the air is lower and the curing reaction proceeds more slowly.

Sikaflex 291i Chemical Resistance

Sikaflex 291i is resistant to fresh water, seawater, limewater, sewage effluent and aqueous detergent solutions; temporarily resistant to fuels, mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats and oils;  not resistant to organic acids, alcohol, concentrated mineral acids and caustic solutions or solvents.
