British Seagull® Outboard Mark 1 Villiers Ignition Assembly Coil sits between the coil ends on the magneto base plate transforms low current to high current for the ignition spark when the flywheel is rotated. The British Seagull engine Coil comes complete with the British Seagull Outboard Mark 1 Villiers Ignition Assembly Low Tension Lead for the points and is locked into position with the British Seagull Outboard Mark 1 Villiers Ignition Assembly Coil Lock Screw.
As the British Seagull Outboard Starter Cord rotates the flywheel the magnets produce a time-varying magnetic field between the magnets in the flywheel and the Coil Ends. The coil converts this rotational action to create an electromotive force; transforming low current to high current for the ignition spark.
This part is suitable for all British Seagull Outboard engines fitted with the Mark 1 Villiers ignition assemblies.
