The British Seagull® Propeller Shaft Rubber Oil Seal Washer is a dust seal to prevent dirt entering the gearbox.

This seal is not designed as a positive seal to prevent water ingress or oil leaking, and, an emulsified mixture is the sign of a healthy, unsealed, gearbox.
