Freeman Sea Cock Cap

The Freeman Sea Cock Cap that fits on to the Freeman Sea Cock Body that houses the Freeman Sea Cock Filter for the engine water cooling.

The seacock cap screws down on to the body and should be installed with Freeman Seacock Cap Cork Washer to create the seal. This cap fits most of the original Freeman Bronze Seacock bodies.

When would I need to change the Sea Cock Cap?

The Freeman Sea Cock Cap should be inspected regularly, along with the seacock filter (which should be free from debris) and seacock gate valve. These parts should usually be replaced if any signs of wear is apparent, or cracks have appeared or if the top of the cap has a 'dome' like finish; the cap should normally have a flat top. A 'domed' top may signify that the cap has become under pressure from ice during a cold spell (water will expand when it freezes and so can 'push' the top of the cap upwards) and, so, should be replaced. This sequence may well weaken the cap, and in severe cases, can split the cap completely leaving water to freely enter the boat through the top of the seacock body.
