Vented Loops are vented anti-siphon loops for installation in the toilet pipes when the toilet, holding tank or waste seacock is situated below the water line. A vented loop allows air into the system as water or waste flows past, they are designed to prevent the siphoning of fresh water from the river or sea into the toilet system.
A vented anti-siphon loop should be fitted in the freshwater intake hose between the toilet pump and the bowl if the toilet is installed below the waterline. A vented loop should also be fitted between the holding tank and the discharge seacock if the holding tank is installed below the waterline.
A vented loop should be installed so that it is situated at least 20cm (8") above the waterline, but not more than 1.8m (6ft) high otherwise you will struggle to pump or discharge your toilet.
