The Delphi Fuel Water Separators also known as sedimenters or agglomerators, fit in your fuel line and separate dirt and water from your fuel before it makes its way into the fuel filter or engine. Having a water trap prior to your primary fuel filter helps prevent water from blocking the primary filter thus requiring fewer filter changes.
The water separator has a drain off plug in the bottom to empty the trapped water from the system, this should be done frequently to prevent a build-up of water. The water separator is mounted to a standard CAV type filter head with 4 port connections, 2 input ports and 2 output ports.
The engine water separator does not use a filter element and therefore only needs to be emptied frequently and cleaned as part of your routine maintenance.
The Delphi Fuel Water Separator is available with either a plastic drain plug, or it is available with a metal drain plug.
With the introduction of E10 petrol, it will be more important than ever to fit a water separator into your boats fuel line. The added Ethanol in the new E10 petrol (up to 10% renewable ethanol) will absorb more water from the atmosphere into the fuel which will travel through your fuel filter and into your engine causing poor performance, blockages and corrosion.
